Public panel discussion in Athens...
The media campaigns surrounding the European debt crisis in Greece and Germany raise questions about the manner of reporting and its influence on policy-making, and about rationales behind news-making. To address such questions, a public panel discussion will be held today at the invitation of the Hellenic Foundation for European Foreign Policy (ELIAMEP), the German Embassy in Athens, the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), and the CGP. It forms part of the Global Politics Winter School Greece held from 4 to 14 December in Athens.
The panel will include experts from the media and politics from both Greece and Germany. Aside from journalists Nikolaus Blome (BILD), Paschos Mandravelis (Kathimerini Daily), and Dimitris Kontogiannis (Eleftherotypia), political figures from both countries will join the debate. Among them are Dr. Jorgo Chatzimarkakis, MEP of the European Parliament, Constantine Papadopoulos, Secretary General for International Economic Relations at the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Ole Funke, expert for EU economic and financial policy at the German Federal Foreign Office.
