FU ELECTS NEW HEAD
05/20/2010
On May 12, professor of literature Peter-André Alt was elected president of Freie Universität Berlin
Following former president Dieter Lenzen's transfer to Hamburg University, professor of literature Peter-André Alt was elected president of Freie Universität Berlin on May 12. He thanked the academic senate for the trust placed in him and pointed to challenges that the university will face in coming years. Confident in spite of these challenges, Alt promised that even those who had not cast their vote in his favour will not be disappointed. Unavoidable dissent within the senate should be viewed as an expression of a necessary struggle to find the right way for FU Berlin, which, as Alt trusts, will ultimately be succesful.
